Mamma is such an affectionate, silly girl! Only 4 years old, she has so much love to give! Sweet Mamma came to us when her humans moved, and their landlord didn't allow pets. Our handsome Tahoe came to us with his buddy Chevy when their owners could unfortunately no longer care for them and the shelter they came from couldn't take them back. He's so sweet, we are happy we are able to get to know him here! Tahoe is a little younger and a little smaller than his friend Chevy - he's just under 6 years old and 75 lbs. Since he's a little younger and more fit than Chevy, he can get around a bit easier, so he's always looking for his next adventure! Can you believe our handsome Miller was actually dumped by his previous owners?! Luckily, they're being charged with animal abandonment - and Miller is ready to find his forever family! We don't know too much about Miller, other than the fact that we are glad he is safe with us! Justice came to us from a family who sadly lost their home, and as much as they loved Justice, they were put into an unfortunate situation and had to give him up. It's kitten season, which means we have a ton of available kittens for adoption! The kittens pictured are just some of the cuties we have available looking for a new home. We have males and females of varying ages for you to meet! When adopting kittens, it's recommended to adopt in pairs so that they have a playmate to grow up with. Unless you have another playful young cat at home, this will keep them from getting into trouble - for the most part! Adopting a kitten is also a long-term commitment - keep in mind cats can live around 15 - 20 years! Kittens may be available for our "Foster-to-Adopt" program, or they may be adopted based on their age - our adoption counselors will explain the difference when you come in. Our handsome guy Tucker has had a tough go of it lately! His owner sadly passed away, and although some friends were able to take him, he was not getting along with their cats, so they made the tough decision to surrender him. Tucker was then adopted, but returned shortly after due to some medical issues with his adopter that had nothing to do with Tucker. So now, he is looking for his FOREVER home! Tucker is about 9 1/2 years old, but he has the energy of a younger dog! He loves to go on walks, and loves playing with his toys in our play yard! Our sweet Simon is so scared here at the shelter! He is used to a calm home where he could get cuddles and love, and is just overwhelmed here. Simon came to us with his friend Miss Garfunkle when their owners could no longer care for them. They both love other cats, and would love to go home together if possible! If not, a home that already has cats would make each of them happiest. We think that, since Simon is so nervous here at the shelter, very young kids and excitable dogs may be too much excitement for him. He did previously live with dogs, but they had a high prey drive and scared him, so a calm, cat-friendly dog may be a better fit with him, as long as he is given the time to acclimate. In the end, Simon just needs a loving family. Can you believe this beautiful girl came to us from local animal control? And now Sandy is looking for her loving forever home! Although Sandy was found as a stray, we believe that, sadly, she was dumped based on the fact that she was found near an apartment complex, and she's so friendly! This beautiful girl doesn't mind keeping to herself as long as she has a thick blanket to relax on, but she readily welcomes pets with love! Because of her unknown past, we don't know how she is with kids or dogs - we do think she'd be fine with those who are on the calmer side and can give her space when needed. You may be wondering how “Shake” got her name. It may become more obvious when you know her children’s names - Chicken Fry, Spicy Chicken, Whopper Jr. and King. That’s right - she was found by a Burger King! Shake and her babies were brought to us not long ago - her kids will be ready for adoption soon, but right now it’s mom’s turn! She’s only about a year and a half old, and can be a little shy at first - totally understandable, considering she was living on the streets for who knows how long! She may back away at first, but with a calm, gentle hand she’ll let you have the honor of petting her, and then you’ll see how sweet she is - like a milkshake! Shake would do best in a calm home as she gets used to the indoor life and understands, finally, what it’s like to feel loved. Kids over 10 would be best, and we think she’d be happiest without dogs in the home. However, she would love a kitty companion to grow and learn from! Our sweet Abigail has such a sad story! Her owner passed away, and his elderly next-of-kin weren't able to care for her any longer - although they tried, they had things going on in their own lives and weren't able to keep her. We knew we had to help her, and help her owner's family, by finding her a new home! Abigail is about 7 years old, but she has the energy of a younger dog! She loves her walks, and has fun playing in our play yards with her favorite people! Abigail also loves going on car rides! But in case you think she's an "always on-the-go" type of dog, think again, because she is also a snuggle bug, and would love to cuddle up with you to watch a movie - and give lots of kisses, of course! In her previous home, Abigail lived with a male dog and did fine with him, but at the shelter she seems like she doesn't like most dogs, so we believe a home where she can be your one-and-only would make her the happiest. She has also never been around young kids, just older ones, and she more recently lived with seniors. This smart girl also knows some commands, like sit, come, and she responds to her name as well! Sky came to us from Virginia to find her forever home. One of the animal control officers down there happened to see her in a wire crate on a porch that was too small for her and not protected from the elements. They were able to seize her and she has been very appreciative of being able to get out of that crate! Sky loves meeting new people, dogs and has also done well meeting cats! She is about 5 months old and about 30 pounds. She will probably be about 50-60 pounds when she is full grown!
